A charming, possibly alarming, story about Grindelwinde, a cranky old man who is at war with nature, and the world at large. When he grows annoyed by all the rowdy kids who gather and play in the wood next door, he decides to teach them a lesson and has all the trees cut down.
What follows is a peculiar series of events, in which nature gets its own ... with delightful, magical consequences.
It all begins when Grindelwinde wakes one morning to discover a small bird nesting in his beard. He is then attacked by a swarm of bees, then an owl and, well, from there on things just get stranger and stranger, and nature — more and more out-of-control.
"A wonderful fanciful story with a moral ... and beautiful illustrations."
Wally is an eleven-year-old whizz-kid who builds robots that perform everyday tasks like weeding and ironing. Word of his talent spreads, and when the sinister Dr Criplash offers him a small fortune to build a special robot, it looks like an opportunity too good to refuse — his family needs the money.
But Wally is horrified when he discovers what the robot will be used for. He and his friends are soon plunged into a world where nothing is what it seems and nothing works the way it’s meant to. And if he doesn’t do what the evil doctor wants, his nearest and dearest will pay the price.
Can Wally outwit Dr Criplash, save his family and find a way to stop the robot doing what it was built to do?
